A card on file is required to reserve your appointment and full payment is due at the time of service. We will collect any copay, deductible, or coinsurance amount at the time services are rendered. We accept most HSA/HRA payment methods.
Cancellation Policy
Our office requires a minimum of 24 hour notice of the need to cancel or reschedule an appointment. A client that is a ‘no show’ or an appointment that is canceled or rescheduled without 24 hour notice is subject to a late cancellation fee.
Online Sessions
Online sessions (Telehealth) are used to supplement and keep the continuity of treatment for clients who have difficulty getting to the office regularly, or face another barrier to meeting in person. It is required that clients have attended an in-person intake assessment appointment before meeting online. It is required that the client be in the state that the clinician is licensed during the virtual session.
The “No Surprises Act”
Effective 1/1/2022, a new federal law called the “No Surprises Act” was enacted. This law requires us to provide self-pay clients with a “Good Faith Estimate” of the total anticipated cost of your treatment. Estimating the total cost of psychotherapy treatment is very difficult because the course of treatment varies for everyone. The law requires us to make this estimate prior to completing an assessment which further complicates things. In psychotherapy, there are only a handful of CPT codes (billing codes) that can be used and the prices for those codes do not vary.
You have the right to receive a “Good Faith Estimate” explaining how much your medical care may cost. Under the law, healthcare providers need to give patients who don’t have insurance or who are not using insurance an estimate of the bill for medical items and services.
- You have the right to receive a Good Faith Estimate for the total expected cost of any non-emergency items or services. This includes related costs like medical tests, prescription drugs, equipment, and hospital fees.
- Make sure your healthcare provider gives you a Good Faith Estimate in writing at least 1 business day before your medical service or item. You can also ask your healthcare provider, and any other provider you choose, for a Good Faith Estimate before you schedule an item or service.
- If you receive a bill that is at least $400 more than your Good Faith Estimate, you can dispute the bill.
- Make sure to save a copy or picture of your Good Faith Estimate.
